The King’s Excellence- P.2 (1.22.17)

Excellence is not based on comparison.

Ecclesiastes 4:4-6
Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbour. This is also vanity and vexation of spirit. Better is an handful with quietness, than both the hands full with travail and vexation of spirit.

Man was created to bring God glory. Your life’s purpose is to bring God glory.

Matthew 5:16
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven

Isaiah 12:5
Sing unto the Lord; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth.

Philippians 4:12-13
I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

God has a plan and a purpose for right where you are.

Learn to be content right where you are!

The enemy will always use what you don’t have to vex you.
God will always use what you do have to bless you.

Let God move you vertically rather than you judging yourself horizontally.

Your wholeness will not come as a result of getting what someone else has.

1 Samuel 1:6-9
And her adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because the Lord had shut up her womb. And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the Lord , so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat. Then said Elkanah her husband to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to thee than ten sons?  So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the Lord .

The Lord had shut up Hannah’s womb, but not forever. It was only for a season. Don’t measure your life by someone else. They may be in a different season than you are. Instead, wait on the Lord.

Don’t let the enemy provoke you over what you don’t have.

Proud people make everything a competition.
The proud person is never satisfied.
A proud person gets no joy from a thing unless it is more or better than someone else’s.

Ezekiel 43:10
Thou son of man, shew the house to the house of Israel, that they may be ashamed of their iniquities: and let them measure the pattern.

Their house was built by the wrong blueprint.

God’s word is the blueprint of our lives.

Colossians 1:9-13
For this cause we also, since the day we heard it , do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

Isaiah 12:5
Sing unto the Lord; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth.

Standard for excellence has to be God and His Word.

1 Corinthians 3:3
For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

Don’t be jealous and envious of another because they are fulfilling their God given purpose. Instead, strive to fulfill the purpose that He has called you to.

James 3:14-16
But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is , there is confusion and every evil work.

We are called to uniquely bring God glory by being who He has created us to be. When we fulfill our purpose we bring God glory.

Imagine seeing an eagle swoop down on top of a body of water and grab a fish. You might be awestruck to witness that. You might be fascinated to watch how fast the wings of a hummingbird are as it gets nectar out of a feeder. Each of those things are glorious because they are doing what God created them to do. It would be weird to see a hummingbird try and grab a fish off the top of a lake, or an eagle try and stick its beak in a hummingbird feeder. Thats not what they were created for. When we do what we are designed to do, we bring God glory.

Philippians 2:3 KJV
Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
