Then came to him the mother of Zebedee’s children with her sons, worshipping him , and desiring a certain thing of him. And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom. But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able. And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father. And when the ten heard it , they were moved with indignation against the two brethren. But Jesus called them unto him , and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
This mother wanted a position for her sons, but she did not understand the price it would cost.
God has an ordained position for each of us. The position is set by Him. The price is set by our enemy. Are we willing to pay the price for the position? The price is whatever has to be overcome to get to the position.
Before we go after a position, we should ask God to give us the wisdom and the strength to pay the price.
Wanting a position is easy. Being willing to pay the price can be hard.
After you have vision you have to calculate the cost.
Every position set by God has opposition from the enemy. And God allows it to strengthen us and for His glory. We can’t look at the enemy’s opposition with fear. We must see the enemy as a footstool that God will use to take us higher.
There is no opposition you face that God hasn’t already given you the power to have victory over.
Your opposition is always related to the call and purpose on your life.
Without the price, God would never get the glory. It is through the price that we appreciate the position.
Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt . And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?
During one of the most critical and intense times, Jesus took with Him the same son’s of the woman who approached him in Matthew 20- and they couldn’t stay awake for even one hour to watch as He prayed. They wanted the position but did not understand the price.
The opposition you face is against the God ordained position…not opposition again you personally.
Don’t make the enemy the excuse for why you don’t achieve what God has called you to achieve. God factored in to His plan what the enemy would do and He has equipped you spiritually mentally and physically to overcome the opposition for His glory.
When we stand before God, we will not answer for what we wanted to do, but rather what God called us to do.
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
Example: You ask your kids to take out the trash. When you notice its not done, you ask them why. They say they fed the dogs instead. But they didn’t do what you sent them to do. What they did was good, but its not the mission you gave them.
Don’t waste your time and God-given abilities chasing things that God doesn’t desire for you. God has ordained a specific purpose and position for you. Seek Him to find out what it is. And when you know, seek Him for the strength to accomplish it.
God uses opposition to keep us in His Word, in prayer, in worship, in humility and a position to give Him glory and praise for what He has done.
In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee. Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.
Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy. No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord , and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord .
