Step 1– God’s Word is His will. (He will never go against His Word.)
Step 2– God’s will is confirmed by Godly counsel. (Godly counsel should never contradict God’s Word.)
Step 3– The will of God will cause you to have joy and peace.
Step 4– The will of God will always bring Him glory.
Before you make a decision, ask yourself, “will this bring God glory?”
2 Samuel 5:17-19,22-24
But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it , and went down to the hold. The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. And David enquired of the Lord , saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the Lord said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand. And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. And when David enquired of the Lord , he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees. And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the Lord go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.
David did right by seeking the Lord each time. And God gave him different directions the second time. David was successful because He sought the will of God before he acted and obeyed.
Don’t get married to a particular method. Just because God did something one way in your life at one point doesn’t mean He will do it that way the next time. We should always seek His will each time for a fresh word. He may want us to go about something a different way than we did in the past.
God not only wants you to get victory, but also for that victory to bring Him glory.
Hebrews 1:1-3
God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
The glory of God is the expressed image of God. It reveals who He is; His character, attributes and nature.
We each have unique and individual callings, but the same goal of bringing God glory.
When what you do demonstrates who God is, God is glorified.
When God’s Word is manifest in our life, God is glorified.
John 1:14
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Jesus is the manifested Word of God.
John 4:34
Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
John 5:30
I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
John 6:38
For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
Psalm 72:17-19
His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed. Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things. And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.
God wants to be glorified right where you are.
Habakkuk 2:14
For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.
Numbers 14:21
But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord.
Psalm 8:4-5
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
Remember to ask if the decision you’re about to make, and direction you are going in would bring God glory.
When you do what you were created to do you bring God glory.
If you are content to live outside of the will of God, you are content to not bring God glory.
Do what God has called you to do.
Jeremiah 9:23-24
Thus saith the Lord , Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord .
1 Corinthians 1:25,29,31
Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. That no flesh should glory in his presence. That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
1 Corinthians 10:31
Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
God has a specific purpose for you. When you live according to His will, your life will bring Him glory.
2 Corinthians 10:17 KJV
But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
You’ll never be more fulfilled in life than when you are living in God’s will and doing what He called you to do.
