“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”

2 Timothy 3:1-5

  • List of signs to be aware of in the last days.
  • Matthew 24.
  • A sign of the last days is that men will be unthankful.

Why is being unthankful a sign of the last days?

“But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.”

Luke 6:35

  • Being unthankful is connected with the evil.
  • God is still kind to all!
  • Men will be unthankful because men are evil.
  • A Kingdom culture is a culture of being thankful.

“Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.”

Romans 1:19-21

  • When we see a creation. we know there is a Creator.
  • God reveals Himself by things that are made.
  • The first step of moving away from God is when we are not thankful.
  • Being thankful is the most important thing in our relationship with Him (bringing Him glory).
  • When I am not thankful, I am alienating myself from God.
  • Vain = empty, pointless, without purpose.

Result of Rejection of God

“Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.”

Romans 1:21-25

What if you woke up and you only had what you were thankful for the previous day?

“Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.”

Psalms 29:2

  • Psalms 100:4.
  • Worship is surrender. It’s done in the holy place.

“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.”

Psalms 100:1-5

  • The first thing we must know is that He created us.
  • Man is not the product of himself.
  • We get into God’s presence with thanksgiving.
  • Thanksgiving → Praise → Worship.
  • Thanksgiving begins with what I can see in my life
  • Praise has nothing to do with what I see, it’s everything I know!
  • Worship = complete surrender.

“I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the Lord. I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all his people, In the courts of the Lord’s house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the Lord.”

Psalms 116:17-19

  • It’s not always easy to give thanks. Thanksgiving is an offering.

“That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works.”

Psalms 26:7
